Well, here we are at the end of our first month of actually being a thing. And what a month it has been! I can’t say enough how excited and happy and proud I am that we got this project off the ground. The level of success we have seen so far has far surpassed anything I imagined we would achieve by this point. I thought that in our first 4 weeks, we might see 100 or so views on our site and around the same amount of likes on our Facebook page, which I would have been completely over the moon with. To think that we hit 1000 likes a couple of days ago, and have clocked nearly 2000 views on the blog… I don’t even know what to say! Except, of course, a very big thank you to those who have supported us and helped us get here.
Obviously, the numbers aren’t the most important thing, but I’m super excited about them because they mean something very special. Our success is purely a result of people wanting to engage with the ideas we are putting forward, and learn more about the sustainability movement. Every little step you take towards living more eco-consciously is something to celebrate and be proud of! It’s hard to change the old habits that we have always had, and no one is expected to completely revamp their lifestyle overnight. The most important thing is giving it a go, which is a lot easier to do when you have other people to share and discuss your ideas and your journey with. This was, and remains, the only purpose behind Use Good Stuff.
Personally I owe a lot to the people who are involved in running this ship with me. I will never stop thanking/appreciating/dreaming about William, James, Poppy and Emma. Their involvement in this has turned it into something bigger and better than it ever could have been without them. Also, huge gratitude to the businesses and organisations who have been involved with us so far. Many signed on to help before knowing whether or not this thing was going to be terrible, so cheers for taking that risk! (Also, I hope you don’t think it’s terrible?)
The brilliant Emma Cusdin recently described Use Good Stuff as “the little blog that could”. I thought that was very accurate, and also cute. So, thanks again for helping us get this little engine over the mountain! I think that’s more than enough from me, but if you would like to go back and check out the posts we have put up this month, please do so! We had some real winners, and there is so much more to come.
