This week I wanted to share another one of my favourite New Zealand skincare ranges with you – Black Robin!
This company is still relatively small scale, with all of their products made in small batches by hand. I first came across them while looking for products for our goodie bags for the Go Green Expo, and immediately wanted to try them out. I think what struck me first was how reasonably priced everything was! For handmade, vegan, natural products this range is very affordable. I contacted Lauren and she very generously agreed to provide me with items for the expo, as well as some stuff to try for myself! I also love the branding and packaging. The bottles and tubs are all either reusable or recyclable, which of course we love, and the design is super pretty and original which I think really sets it apart from other brands.
As I’m sure I’ve mentioned previously, I am a very big fan of anything rose hip. It has a lovely scent and is one of the only things I’ve found that effectively calms and soothes my skin. The Hippy Hippy Shake from Black Robin is completely divine. It is very light and smooth and doesn’t leave my skin feeling greasy. It also has anti-bacterial Harakeke extract, and vanilla essential oil which makes this moisturiser smell like some sort of delicious cake. I have added it into my night time beauty routine, so I go to bed every night smelling like a tasty pudding.
The Whole Lotta Rosie spray definitely got my interest, as I had never tried a toner spray before. I’ll admit, I had no clue what to do with it when I first received it and had to look it up! It is intended for use on the face and neck, which I tried for a few days, but I found it to be super helpful on my forearms, too. I get particularly dry skin on my arms in the winter months, and am finding that a couple of quick sprays with this every day is helping to keep that at bay. I imagine that, come summertime, this would also be super refreshing on hot days.
Lauren has lots of other awesome things to try; I’ll certainly be ordering a few more in the not too distant future! She also does facial masques and body and lip scrubs, you can check out the entire range here. Also be sure to give them a like on Facebook 🙂
